The Newcastle Library is a state-of-the-art facility built for the King County Library System. The building is composed of two main forms; the large multi-function reading room with book storage, computer workstations, and reading areas, and the smaller “brick block”, an area with community meeting rooms, private conference rooms and a children’s reading area. The building is constructed of steel framing over a concrete base. The multi-function reading room has tapered steel columns, exposed braced-frames and custom roof trusses supporting an extensive green roof.
Project Specs: 11,000 square feet, completed 2012
